About the guest speaker:
Lori Stewart
Lori came to Calgary in 2004 after spending a rather adventurous 5 years in California during the tech boom where she built and launched eBay Canada and then led the rapid expansion and globalization of eBay - including the acquisition of Paypal.
Recently, Lori was part of the core Nenshi strategy team and helped build the brand that is Naheed Nenshi. Following the election she went with Naheed to City Hall as acting Chief of Staff and built out the Mayor's new team.
Lori is also the founder of Awesome Foundation, Calgary providing micro-financing for micro-brilliance - "1 great idea + 90 second pitch = $1000".
Whether it's a new start-up or a civic election, success is always driven by 3 key factors - "having the right idea, at the right time - with the right team to pull it off." The intuition to know when all of those factors align is when an idea can be truly successful.
Lori sits on the board of numerous software companies, is a member of Alberta Deal Generator and maintains strong contacts to the VC world and Silicon Valley tech communities. Her big goal is to mentor young ideas here in Calgary and help foster this city as a long-term, world-class technology and innovation centre.

About SMBYYC
The SMBYYC houses an open environment to share today’s best and worst examples of social media, as practiced by individuals, industries and organizations in Calgary and around the world. Guest speakers share their experience and expertise of social media use, followed by an opportunity to network with a community of like-minded individuals.
The SMB was founded by Bryan Person in August 2007 as an event for social media newbies and experts to come together to eat, meet, share and learn. The breakfast series began in Boston and has now spread to more than three dozen cities around the world. The Calgary chapter of the SMB was started by Scott Baird of McQDesign Strategies.
